The 2 hour online training has been designed to walk participants through the guidelines, following the stages of the Medical Travel Care Continuum including:
• Care Continuum Phase #1 Service and Destination Selection
• Care Continuum Phase #2 Information Sharing and Planning
• Care Continuum Phase #3 Arrival
• Care Continuum Phase #4 Accommodation
• Care Continuum Phase #5 Admission & Treatment
• Care Continuum Phase #6 Discharge
• Care Continuum Phase #7 Post Discharge Follow-up and Departure
• Care Continuum Phase #8 Follow Up at Home
The goal is to provide participants with practical examples and considerations for implementing the guidelines within a medical travel program, as well as reviewing the relevant GHA standards and other best practices and protocols used to develop the guidelines. Completing the training is not a prerequisite for proceeding or completing the Certification of Conformance; however, we do encourage selected staff to take the training as it will help with understanding of the certification process. Participants who complete the training will receive a Certificate of Participation issued by the Global Healthcare Accreditation (GHA) Program for Medical Travel Services.
*The training has been designed primarily for staff in hospitals and clinics with a medical travel program that is undergoing the Certification of Conformance (and is included in this program); however, the protocols will also be of interest to individuals or companies working with medical travelers.
