GHA and the Thai Clinic Association Announce Strategic Partnership to Support Medical Travel Best Practices in Thailand

March 23, 2021

The Global Healthcare Accreditation (GHA) Program for Medical Travel Services and the Thai Clinic Association(TCA), have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration between the two organizations to strengthen medical travel best practices in Thailand.

The MoU signing took place on March 21st, 2021, with Dr. Somporn Kumphong, CEO of Healthcare Expert Group and GHA's representative in Thailand, representing GHA on site and signing the MoU with Dr. Sanh Salyasiri, Founder of the Thai Clinic Association. Ms. Karen Timmons and Mr. Bill Cook, GHA’s Chief Executive Officer and Director of Business Development & Marketing respectively, participated in the event virtually.

The Global Healthcare Accreditation (GHA) Program is an independent accrediting body that seeks to improve the patient experience and excellence of care received by patients who travel for their medical care and treatment, whether within their own country or internationally. The Thai Clinic Association seeks to improve the quality, safety and patient experience of medical tourism and health tourism patients seeking care through its association of clinics in Thailand.

TCA and GHA will collaborate to efficiently develop and support medical travel best practices by:

·        Educating clinics on the GHA standards for medical travel services

·        Supporting clinics in their quest and journey towards GHA Accreditation and Certification

·        Supporting clinics in their quest for Certification of Conformance on GHA Covid-19 Guidelines, thereby validating that these medical travel programs are implementing comprehensive protocols as a proactive risk mitigation strategy to ensure patient safety and wellbeing during and post COVID-19 along the entire care continuum.

Ms. Karen Timmons stated, “The assurance of quality and transparency in medical travel goes beyond the care delivered in the actual healthcare facility– it starts from the point of inquiry for the service and destination through the entire medical travel care continuum, including post-discharge, and specifically how all steps in the care continuum contribute to an overall safe, high quality medical travel experience. We are pleased to partner with the Thai Clinic Association in support of the medical travel patient and we applaud its commitment to provide its association of clinics with solutions that prioritize the patient experience for medical travelers.”
